An eye-catching part of a magazine put together by pupils at Morpeth’s high school has been recognised nationally.

The King Edward VI School Student Review publication was highly commended in the Best Cartoon category at the national final of the Shine Media Awards 2015 in London.

The cartoon was drawn by Year 13 student Ben Welsh. It has a graphic novel style.

Student Review Year 13 students Beth Lamb, Jack Taylor and Mark McGarry attended the final.

KEVI Student Voice, leadership and enrichment co-ordinator, Victoria Najafi, said: “Congratulations to Student Review on yet another fantastic achievement.

“Last year, the publication won Best Overall Magazine and Best Editorial Content and to be highly commended in the Best Cartoon category shows the breadth of talent in the team.”
