Fund-raising was a numbers game for hard-working Morpeth pupils.

Youngsters at Chantry Middle School took part in a sponsored spell and times-tables challenge in aid of children’s charity the NSPCC. A grand total of £2,800 was raised.

Head of School Steven Johnson said: “It was a remarkable achievement to raise so much.

“I’m delighted with how the children always show their support for local charities.

“The whole school was involved.”
