Pupils have been given plenty of food for thought after travelling across Northumberland to take part in an annual Children’s Countryside Day.

Youngsters from Morpeth’s Stobhillgate First School were among children from 38 schools to attend the event near Wooler.

The initiative, which is organised by Glendale Agricultural Society, aims to teach children about farming, food and the environment, with this year’s focus on storing and preserving harvest, and featuring a dedicated pantry area and tasting sessions.

It was attended by 65 exhibitors and was led by more than 150 volunteers.
