Pupils at a Morpeth school are top of the class when it comes to attendance.

Year 4 at St Robert’s RC First School in Oldgate have claimed a £200 prize from teacher recruitment agency Vision For Education after notching up the highest attendance figures in their group for the autumn term.

Several schools take part in the programme and all their pupils with 100 per cent attendance go into a draw every week, with the winner receiving a £5 voucher. The larger award is for overall class attendance over a term.

St Robert’s Headteacher Vivien Cunningham said: “£200 is a significant amount of money for the class and they are now deciding how to spend it.”
