A LEADING international gardening expert is coming to Northumberland to discuss his work.

Tony Kirkham, who is Head of Arboriculture and Horticulture Services at The Royal Botanic Gardens, will present a talk at Kirkley Hall.

He will give an illustrated lecture about the trees of Great Britain and show how they have shaped the country, as well as share tales from his 30-year career, which began with an apprenticeship in the forestry industry and has seen him travel to China, Chile and Russia, among other places.

The talk has been organised by the Friends of Kirkley Hall in partnership with Northumberland College.

It will take place on Wednesday at 7.30pm.

Tickets cost £7 and booking is essential. Proceeds will go towards educational trips for students and to improve facilities at the campus for visitors.
