A PONTELAND student has achieved her Oxbridge dream after getting an outstanding set of A-Level results.
Francesca Thornton, who attended Church High in Newcastle, received three A* grades in geography, psychology and English language and literature (combined syllabus) and an A in German.
She will now read religious studies and theology at the esteemed Downing College in Cambridge University.
The 18-year-old said: “I can’t wait to get started at Cambridge — it’s been my ambition for as long as I can remember. I am hoping to become a barrister in the future and think my theology degree will give me a really good foundation before going on to study law. My teachers at Church High have really supported me throughout my studies and have helped to nurture and grow my ambitions and so I would like to thank them all.”
