DEDICATED students saw their hard work rewarded in two ceremonies.

Kirkley Hall, near Ponteland, played host to both the graduation and student awards ceremonies for Northumberland College.

The events were presented by the college’s Interim Principal Viv Gillespie and Chairman of Governors Jacqui Henderson.

Architect Tim Bailey was the invited speaker for the graduation ceremony, which saw higher education students celebrate their achievements in Foundation Degrees, HNCs, HNDs and NVQs.

Dressed in gowns and mortar boards, they collected their certificates in front of an audience of 300 friends, family members, college staff and partners from local universities.

Ms Gillespie said: “It was fantastic to see so many graduates and guests at the ceremony this year. Many of our graduates will be progressing on to degree programmes at the region’s universities and we’d like to wish each of them the best of luck for their future endeavours.”

The awards ceremony took place the following evening, where students nominated by their tutors were rewarded with certificates and prizes for their hard work.

Couture designer Paul Shriek was the speaker and sponsors included Northumberland County Council, the Friends of Kirkley Hall and Mainstream Renewable Power.
