Ponteland Town Councillors joined officers from Northumberland County Council's youth service, members of Ponteland Youth Group and Northumberland Youth Cabinet for a community litter pick during half-term week.

A LOAD of rubbish was the intention for a group of young people when they did a litter pick in Ponteland.

Members of the Ponteland Youth Group and Northumberland Youth Cabinet joined forces to carry out a half-term clean up last week.

Officers from Northumberland Youth Service, Ponteland Mayor Peter Cowey and fellow members of Ponteland Town Council were also on hand to collect litter around the youth centre, which is located on Callerton Lane next to Ponteland High School.

They collected 15 bags of rubbish in total.

Northumberland County Council Youth Participation Worker Luke Bramhall said: “Everyone who took part made a real difference to the environment around Ponteland Youth Centre.

“The young people were keen to improve their local surroundings and they showed great community spirit to give up time during their half term holiday to take part in this litter pick.”
