BUDDING business brains at Morpeth’s high school were honoured for their achievements by a footballing legend.

The teenagers brought in almost £3,000 during a curry quiz evening and charity auction earlier this year in aid of the Alan Shearer Foundation, which supports disabled people in the North East. Combined with other donations, including £118 from Mortimer School in South Shields, they raised about £3,500 in total.

As a result, the King Edward VI School team received the ‘Single Most Profitable Venture’ award and overall runner-up accolade for the regional Young Social Entrepreneur of the Year competition from the former Newcastle United and England striker at a recent ceremony.
