Logging on to choices

PARENTS of children moving up to middle or high schools in Northumberland next year can go online to register their choice.

Using the internet makes the process simpler and enables county council staff to allocate places more efficiently.

Parents will also find out about their child’s final school places much faster because web applicants get their results via email rather than through the post.

Usually more than 10,000 people apply for places at Northumberland’s schools and 65 per cent of applications were made online last year.

Applications can be made between Tuesday, September 6 and Monday, October 31 at www.northumberland.gov.uk/245

Those for first or primary schools can be made between Tuesday, November 1 and Sunday, January 13, 2012.

Residents who are unable to access the internet can apply by telephone on 0845 6006400.
