STAFF and students at Northumberland College enjoyed a day of pampering – all for a good cause.

The Level Three beauty therapy students organised the charity event as part of their course, offering a range of mini treatments at bargain prices.

These included manicures, facials, massages and Indian head massages, while Curriculum Leader Patrick O’Doherty agreed to have a sponsored leg wax to boost the fund-raising.

A total of £225 was raised for Cancer Research UK.

Tutor Denise Craig said: “The students did exceptionally well to organise the event and raise the money for charity.

“They worked together as a team and it provided great experience for them in their training to work in the beauty industry.”

Joanne Evans, Area Volunteer Manager for the charity, came into the college to collect the cheque.

She said: “It is great to see the students doing something a little bit different to raise money for Cancer Research UK, as well as raising awareness of our work. I’d personally like to thank the students very much for their fantastic support.”
