PUPILS and staff in Lynemouth are enjoying state-of-the-art facilities after moving into their new school.

Head of Commercial and Property Services at Northumberland County Council Frank Jordan has formally handed over the keys to the new building at William Leach campus to Executive Director for Northumberland Church of England Academy Phil Hearne.

Following a programme of refurbishment and rebuilding, the £50million academy is providing secondary, primary and special needs education for children aged three to 18 on five sites in Ashington, Lynemouth and Newbiggin-by-the-Sea.

Mr Jordan said: “We are creating good quality schools and high quality facilities for school pupils and their families. The work has been done on time and on budget.”

Work will begin shortly on demolishing the existing school on the Lynemouth site.
