ONE of the world’s most famous bears has been spotted around a Morpeth school to raise awareness of a charity challenge in the Lake District.

Four teachers at King Edward VI School are taking part in the Race the Sun event in August to support Action Medical Research (for children).

Gavin Brown, Alastair Findlayson, Jonathan Graham and Neil Rowling will be doing a 50-mile cycle ride, a climb up and down Hellvellyn and canoeing across Thirlmere – starting at sunrise and hopefully finishing before sunset.

Mr Graham, who has dressed in a Paddington Bear costume as the character is the charity’s mascot, said: “It’s a bit daunting, but we’re all excited about taking on the challenge.”
