STAFF and students at Ponteland High School were smiling following some excellent A-level results.
More than half the entries gained the top three grades (A* to B) with a fantastic 24 students gaining two or more A* or A grades.
The average point score per student is 812, with the average point score per entry being 214.
Two students will be starting their higher education career at Oxbridge – Bryony Clear Hill (two A*s and two As) to read geography at Oxford and Beth Forsyth (two A*s and three As) who will study natural sciences at Cambridge.
Many others have achieved a place on sought after courses across the country, including Ben Wainwright (mechanical engineering at Imperial College London) and Chris Dodds (physics with space science and technology at the University of Leicester).
Headteacher Kieran McGrane said: “These excellent results are thoroughly well deserved and are testament to the hard work of our students along with the high quality support of their parents and teachers.
“This year group have added real value to the school during their time in post-16 study and we wish them well as they progress to the next stage of their career and/or professional lives.”
