MORPETH school pupils enjoyed some explosive action when a visitor from Salford University put on a scientific show.

Dr Steven Rossington did the lecture with plenty of visual effects at King Edward VI School as part of National Science and Engineering Week.

Year 9 pupils watched the show, along with Year 8 children from feeder schools Newminster and Chantry Middle Schools and Technology Colleges, Dr Thomlinson Middle School and students from Collingwood School and Media Arts College.

KEVI teacher Louise Maule said: “This was an excellent opportunity for pupils to see exciting experiments they would otherwise not see.

“It will also hopefully increase their engagement with science.”
