MORPETH’S MP was very impressed with his young audience when he visited a local school.
Ian Lavery briefly spoke to pupils at Chantry Middle School and Technology College about what he does as an MP in the Wansbeck constituency and in Parliament before having a long Q&A session with them.
The questions covered issues such as the conflict in Syria, gay marriage, corporal punishment and the prison system.
“I have got to commend the Chantry students as they were first class and many of the questions were well thought through,” said Mr Lavery.
“The aim of my visit was to get the children involved as much as possible and I was pleased that they had good knowledge of so many issues.
“If that’s an indication of what we’ve got for the future of Northumberland, then it’s definitely in safe hands.”
