THINGS come in twos for the McCoull family.
So it was no surprise when twins Heather and Megan each achieved two A* and two A grades in their A-Levels.
The Morpeth pair, who collected their impressive results from King Edward VI School last week, were delighted with their success.
However, it spells the end of the sisters’ time studying together as Heather is off to Cambridge University to study biological natural sciences, while Megan will read history at York.
Megan, who achieved A*s in psychology and art and As in English literature and history, said: “It was a bit tense at home waiting for the results for both of us. We checked online so we knew we had got into our universities. Our Mum doesn’t really understand UCAS, but when we explained that we had got in she was a bit teary.
“I’m really happy with the results, but I do feel a bit sad to be leaving my sister. I’m naturally going to miss her, but we never intended to go to university together and we’ll still see each other.”
Heather, who obtained A*s in biology and physics and As in chemistry and maths, said: “I didn’t expect these grades at all, I really didn’t have any expectations. From the exams during the year this was what I was hoping for and I’m really happy it has happened.”
