URGENT work has been carried out to repair a 20ft sinkhole at a Northumberland nature reserve.

A minor collapse at the Hauxley nature reserve led to the hole opening up, allowing water to escape from a lake.

Northumberland Wildlife Trust worked with UK Coal to fill the hole and landscape the area as quickly as possible to avoid disruption to visitors and wildlife. A new wetland has been created.
