NEWS that Morpeth Town Council has agreed to look after a neglected play area in Stobhill has been welcomed by a local member.
After taking over responsibility for the Boundary Drive facility from Northumberland County Council, it will carry out some refurbishment work which is set to start on Tuesday.
Coun Ian Lindley, who represents Stobhill on the town and county council, said: “This is good news for young families in our part of Morpeth. I have been lobbying for some time to have this playground sorted out.
“At the moment, this lovely green corner in The Covers on the Boundary Drive mini-estate has just one item which can’t be used safely.
“Yet this is a peaceful spot close to home for local mums and dads to relax safely with their small children.”
He added: “There will be a range of equipment for young children installed and we can now also be assured that the ongoing maintenance will be properly taken care of in the future.”
