WILDLIFE enthusiasts in Northumberland have been reminded to take care of their feathered friends this winter.
Northumberland Wildlife Trust has warned that during wintry weather conditions, such as those seen this week, birds’ food sources may be buried deep under snow or hard ground.
And it has urged people to put out alternative food in their back gardens.
Suet, low-cost peanuts, seeds, apples, dried fruit and fresh water could help many birds and small animals.
The trust advises that white bread is not ideal for the animals and should be avoided, but brown bread would be better than nothing.
