EXPERT information on coastal erosion in Northumberland is now available online.
The Environment Agency has been working with councils and other sources to produce the data in an accessible and simple format.
It is similar to the online flood maps and will help authorities with planning and funding decisions for flood and coastal defence schemes, as well as being available to potential developers of coastal sites.
Clare Steward, of the Environment Agency’s Asset System Management Team, said: “The North East is not a region where there is an imminent risk to properties from coastal erosion. However, it is still important that local authorities factor it into their plans for the future.”
Councils have already adopted Shoreline Management Plans outlining what they will do to protect the coastline and manage risks.
