CONCERNS have been raised about horses being ridden dangerously in Ponteland Park.
Alma Prickett, a member of the Friends of Ponteland Park group, brought up the issue at Ponteland Town Council’s annual meeting.
She said: “A lot of people at our AGM were upset about horse riders using the park as a short-cut instead of using the bridle path.
“Those who had witnessed this also said the speed they were riding at was very dangerous and they showed no consideration for pedestrians.”
Ponteland Mayor Robin Ramsay said that police officers have visited the stables where the horses are kept regarding this matter and he hopes that they will no longer be ridden through the park.
