ABOUT 200 equestrian enthusiasts came together near Morpeth to hear from two experts in their field.
Alnorthumbria Veterinary Group hosted the event at the Gubeon Equestrian Centre, where Olympic Farrier Haydn Price and List 2 Dressage Judge and British Horse Society Instructor Margot Tiffany offered their advice.
There were interactive presentations from both speakers to demonstrate the importance of understanding correct paces of the horse and shoeing for performance, before the duo appraised six horses ridden by some of Northumberland’s top competition riders.
Ms Tiffany gave an insight into judging for budding dressage and event riders, while Mr Price discussed farriery as a crucial part of equine care and its link to soundness and performance.
Eventing rider Jason Wood said: “The evening was certainly worthwhile attending. I have been to a few events with Alnorthumbria Vets now and they are always very informative.
“The presentations gave me a lot to think about and it means I can take home what they discussed and work on it.”
A raffle raised £400 for the Equine Grass Sickness Fund.
