MORPETH and District Soroptimists hosted a friendship evening inviting sister women’s organisations based in Morpeth to join them for an evening of friendship and hospitality.
Invited friends included Inner Wheel, Catholic Women’s League and BPW. In total 82 ladies enjoyed a meal and entertainment was provided by KEVI.
Robin Forbes gave an insight into his musical background and his life as a music teacher at KEVI and students entertained us vocally and on the guitar, including songs that we had great fun joining in with. It was a very relaxed talk and a friendly atmosphere.
Club President Trish Walker said: “Robin’s enthusiasm for his job shines through as a truly inspirational teacher.
“Friendship evening is an important event in our yearly calendar and we were thrilled that we had so many guests attending on the evening. We welcomed a wide range of sister women’s organisations based in the town in an evening of friendship and fun. Locally we all support so many worthwhile causes and it is good to know that so many women are interested in working together and supporting the work delivered by local and national charities.
“Having been a teacher myself I was particularly keen to invite KEVI as the school represents just what young people can achieve academically and in a wider social responsibility context. Morpeth Soroptimists have over many years supported KEVI pupils who have participated in international projects.
“The theme for my presidential year is Music and Art and five pupils provided a fantastic musical interlude, which everyone thoroughly enjoyed.”
