ACTIVITIES and events in Morpeth and Whalton have been announced as part of this year’s Heritage Open Days programme.
From September 8 to 11, the largest volunteer event in Britain will celebrate the quirky to the majestic, the grand to the minute and all that is unique about England’s heritage.
People can explore historic, cultural and architectural gems on their doorstep, completely free of charge.
On Thursday, September 8 and Friday, September 9, pupils from St Robert’s First School will lead a special heritage trail around Morpeth town centre in association with performing arts company November Club.
Inspired by archival material about visits to Morpeth by the Lord Sanger and Sons Circus, they have gathered memories, created new ones and lost some very precious cargo along the way.
To book a place on the entertaining trail, which starts at 10.30am on both days, telephone 01670 503866.
On Saturday, September 10, well known North East choir The Caprians will be singing a selection of Northumbrian songs in the courtyard of Whalton Manor House.
This is coupled with an opportunity to see its wonderful gardens. For more information, including performance times, telephone 01670 775205.
