Festive fun and carols at switch-on

Morpeth will be full of colour from Saturday when the Christmas Lights are switched on.

There will be festive fun activities and carols on the Market Place will be led by ‘Not the Three Tenors’ from about 4.15pm – the Northumbrian Water Ellington Colliery Band will accompany the singing.

Following a Christmas address by the Rector of Morpeth, Rev Simon White, at 4.50pm, the button to turn on the town centre display will be pressed by retiring town clerk Gillian Turner.

There will be festive bell-ringing by the Clock Tower Bell-ringers afterwards.

The Mistletoe Fair is taking place on the same day from 11am in the Town Hall. Hot soup, mice pies and mulled wine will be available, as well as gifts and crafts.
