A VALUABLE community scheme has been given extra support to help people into employment.

Morpeth Stobhill county councillor Ian Lindley has secured just short of £5,000 for the Stobhill Community Link project.

The initiative helps jobseekers to gain skills and confidence for the world of work, as well as search for employment opportunities.

The extra funding will go towards upgrading computer and telephone systems at the Shields Road centre.

Coun Lindley said: “The idea is to get people into jobs.

“They can use the equipment to put together proper CVs and become aware of software.”
