Fire service staff in Northumberland are teaming up with agencies across Europe for a new online education project.

Representatives from Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service (NFRS) will join partners from Denmark, Romania, Estonia, Lithuania and Spain in creating an online resource to help people prevent, prepare and respond to disasters.

The group met in Alcala de Guadaira in Spain for its first session, developing educational content, reviewing work done so far and sharing advice, The next meeting will be in Northumberland in July when the agencies will discuss the first full draft of the e-learning package.

The project is supported by the European Commission.
