Families can enjoy fishing fun while messing about on the river.
The Wansbeck Angling Association has recently restocked the free stretch of the Wansbeck through Morpeth town centre with trout.
The group receives funding from Morpeth Town Council towards the project, which is designed to encourage more people to take up angling and make the most of the local environment.
Association Chairman Doug Graham said: “We have recently re-stocked the river with fish and we will be stocking it again later in the year.
“A number of the fish have already been caught and put back and they are in very good condition.
“The idea behind this is that young people in Morpeth can fish the free stretch without the need to poach. It is their river. All they need is an Environment Agency rod licence.”
