Flood alerts for the River Wansbeck and River Pont are no longer in place.

The Environment Agency said that earlier heavy rainfall is now clearing into the North Sea and no further significant rainfall is expected for the Morpeth and Ponteland areas tonight and tomorrow.

The level for the rivers should continue to fall.

It added that it is closely monitoring the potential for further heavy rainfall this weekend and it will re-issue the flood alerts if required.
