Progress continues to be made in setting up a Ponteland flood resilience plan.
The Town Council started looking into the issue at the end of last year. It believes having a formal document in place would be a useful step because it would provide additional help for the elderly and vulnerable and advice on evacuation.
Five of its members attended a meeting last month with consultant Lynne Dunleavy. She offered to assist with the production of a map showing areas of Ponteland affected by previous flooding incidents.
Those present had agreed that the way forward was for the authority to have a further meeting so that councillors could examine the plans of other areas in more detail and then start to fill in the relevant templates under the guidance of the consultant.
This action was approved by members ta a recent full council meeting.
