Updated proposals for a new development in Ponteland are set to be on display in the next week.
Banks Property, part of regional employer the Banks Group, is scheduled to unveil revised plans for its West Clickemin Farm scheme in Ponteland Leisure Centre.
Information and drawings about the forthcoming bid for 400 family homes on a 21 hectare site to the west of the A696 and north of the B6545 – which is currently four arable fields within the green belt – will be in place during the opening hours of the facility (7am to 10pm) every day from Monday, November 7 to Friday, November 11.
Feedback forms will be available for people to put forward their comments and copies of the revised plans will also be placed in Ponteland Library and the Memorial Hall for viewing.
Members of the project team will be at the leisure centre for two hours on Wednesday (10am to noon) and Friday (1pm to 3pm) to answer questions from visitors and take feedback on what is being proposed.
Michael Shuttleworth, managing director at Banks Property, said: “There is a clear and increasingly pressing need across the region to increase the available supply of high quality new homes, a need which is especially clear in Ponteland, and we firmly believe that people should have the opportunity to live in the places where they grew up or where they wish to be.
“Over the last few months, we have been working on a number of different aspects of the design for our West Clickemin Farm scheme in Ponteland and have created a high-quality development scheme for what we believe is the most appropriate location in the area for residential development.
“We have made representations to the Northumberland Core Strategy over the last few years on the suitability of this site for this type of scheme, a view which has been backed up by its inclusion in the draft Core Strategy (major modifications) as being suitable for housing as part of a wider mixed use development.
“We are expecting to submit a planning application within the coming months and are now providing this opportunity for local people, businesses and community groups to view and provide feedback on our proposals before this takes place.
“Alongside new housing, the West Clickemin Farm scheme will also bring a range of community, economic and environmental benefits to the local area in line with our long-standing ‘development with care’ approach to our business, and we are looking forward to discussing the details of our proposals with local people.”
Thousands of people objected to Lugano Group’s bid for up to 280 homes and other facilities on a site at Birney Hill to the south of the Darras Hall estate on green belt land.
Many of these residents joined the Ponteland Green Belt Group and they were delighted when the application was turned down by Northumberland County Council in 2013 and then rejected on appeal last year.
Further information on the proposed West Clickemin Farm development will be made available at www.banksgroup.co.uk/west-clickemin-farm
Residents will also be able to download a copy of the proposals and sign up in support if they are in favour of them from this site.
