A successful Great Britain sprinter visited a Morpeth school today to inspire the next generation.

In August, Harry Aikines-Aryeetey took bronze in the men’s 100m at the European Athletics Championships in Zurich and he was part of the gold medal winning 4x100m quartet at the same competition.

He came along to Chantry Middle School and Technology College this afternoon as it was the first venue for the INEOS GO Run For Fun national initiative, which began in 2013, and it hosted another of these runs last month.

After watching some school races and doing a Q&A session, Aikines-Aryeetey spoke to the Herald about his visit and the rest of his season, including the Great North CityGames on the Newcastle/Gateshead Quayside tomorrow.
