Morpeth Town Hall was the venue for representatives of the 21 teams who recently took part in the Lions’ Charity Swim raising money for local clubs and charities. Morpeth Deputy Mayor Nic Best was on hand to present prizes and sponsorship money cheques.

Patrick Booth’s World Challenge Team of Patrick, Joe Ford, Matthew Pallet, Andrew Holland and Edward Syndercombe won the new George Bell Memorial Trophy for the most lengths swum in the allocated 55 minutes, with a record 210 lengths. The team winning the Dick Gee Memorial Trophy for raising the most sponsorship money was again the Early Birds, who can be seen regularly putting in the training first thing in the morning at the Leisure Centre.

Morpeth Swimming Club was presented with the previous George Bell Memorial Trophy as the space on it for winning teams is now full.

The presentation was compered by Lion Les Brindley, who organises the charity swim.

He thanked all the teams
for taking part and the town council for sponsoring the presentation evening.
