The beer festivals organised by Morpeth Rugby Club and Ponteland Rugby Club both proved very popular.

As well as the drinks available, there was live music and rugby games for those who came along to enjoy.

Ponteland was over three days for the first time and there was a decent turnout on the Sunday.

Organiser Andy Maidwell said: “The total attendance was a record 3,200 and the new gin bar feature was well-received.

“On Saturday, Ponteland’s first XV won promotion to Durham and Northumberland Division One with a 111-3 victory against Seaton Carew in the final game of the season so along with the successful festival, it was a great conclusion to our 50th anniversary season.”
