MEMBERS of the public can have their say on how the conduct of Northumberland’s councillors should be regulated.
Northumberland County Council is conducting a survey this month for people to give their views on the issue.
The matter has arisen as the Government plans to abolish the Standards Board for England, which regulates members’ conduct, and make councillors’ failure to register or disclose their interests in connection with council business a criminal offence.
In addition, local authorities can choose whether to maintain a code of conduct for members.
The Northumberland survey can be found online at www.northumberland.gov.uk/codeofconduct
For a hard copy contact the council on 0845 600 6400.
All responses should be submitted by Friday, March 4.
