RESIDENTS can have their say on an item which will help to develop the county council’s main planning document.
The authority’s latest scoping report will inform the sustainability appraisal for a single combined Northumberland Core Strategy, which now includes the Northumberland Minerals and Waste Core Strategy.
It will examine the potential environmental, social and economic consequences of the document and identify ways of achieving a balance between these issues.
The Core Strategy is the principal item in the Northumberland Local Development Framework. It will set out a strategic vision and detailed guidelines for development in Northumberland over the next 15 years to address the challenges and opportunities faced across the county.
Council Executive Member for Planning, Housing and Regeneration Tom Brechany said: “I would encourage people to have a look at the scoping report and make any comments that they have.”
The report can be viewed online at www.northumberland.gov.uk and the deadline for responses is 5pm on Monday, January 23. Comments can be made by email to PlanningStrategy@northumberland.gov.uk or in writing to Planning Strategy, Development Services, Local Services Group, Northumberland County Council, Morpeth, NE61 2EF.
