A FREE first aid iPhone app is being offered to Northumberland residents by St John Ambulance.
The technology was launched last year for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad users to buy and it quickly became the UK’s best selling health and fitness app, with nearly 44,000 downloads.
The first aid charity says that it has already saved a life as a mother used it to give first aid to her choking baby, and now the organisation is offering the facility free to ensure more people can benefit.
It gives advice on dealing with the effects of cold, such as hypothermia and frostbite, and shows how to cope with emergencies, including heart attacks and choking.
There is step-by-step information, an intuitive interface and voice prompts.
St John Ambulance Chief Executive Sue Killen said: “Being armed with the app could help you be the difference between a life lost and a life saved.”
It can be downloaded from the Apple App Store free now.
