SEVERAL opportunities to give blood are available across Northumberland this month.
NHS Blood and Transplant is organising sessions at Lynemouth Miners’ Welfare in Bridge Road on Tuesday, from 2.45pm to 4pm and from 4.45pm to 7pm.
The team will be at Storey Park Community Centre in Morpeth on Sunday, March 20, from 10.30am to 1pm and from 2.30pm to 4.30pm.
And Ponteland residents can attend sessions at the Memorial Hall in Darras Road on Thursday, March 31, from 2pm to 3.30pm and from 4.15pm to 7pm.
Donated blood is used in a number of ways, including replacing blood loss during surgery or childbirth, for premature babies and for patients receiving treatment for cancer and blood diseases.
Currently around 7,000 units of blood are needed every day to help save lives across the country, but only four percent of the eligible population give blood.
Anyone aged between 17 and 65, weighing more than 50kg, or 7 stone 12lbs, and in general good health could be eligible to donate. There is no upper age limit for people who have donated in the past two years.
