A COUNTY health-related organisation will offer more to the public following a successful bid.
Among the Government’s planned changes for the NHS is the replacement of Local Involvement Networks (LINks) with HealthWatch in October 2012.
And the Northumberland LINk has been approved as a HealthWatch pathfinder.
HealthWatch will continue the LINks role in ensuring that evidence from people’s views and experiences of health and social care are used to influence the policy, planning, commissioning and delivery of health and social care.
But it will also provide information about health and care services and the choices people can make and from April 2013 it will provide support for people to complain about the quality of NHS services.
Chairman of Northumberland LINk Cynthia Atkin said: “The Northumberland LINk is committed to bringing about improvements for patients.
“During this time of great change within the NHS, the LINk and then HealthWatch will continue to ensure that the voice of the people who use health and social care services are heard and that those services are planned and delivered around what the local community need.”
