Three become one at the NHS

A NEW senior management team is now in place for the region’s NHS.

The three strategic health authorities in the north — NHS North East, North West, and Yorkshire and the Humber — have come together under a single management framework, NHS North of England.

It is headed by Chief Executive of NHS North East Ian Dalton and includes some familiar faces.

Prof Stephen Singleton, Medical Director, Director of Performance and Chief Knowledge Officer for NHS North East, has been appointed Medical Director for the group.

He was formerly a rural GP and Director of Public Health in Northumberland and has been Medical Director of NHS North East since its inception.

Richard Barker, Director of Commissioning Development for NHS North East, is the new Chief Operating Officer.

Other team members include Chief Nurse Jane Cummings, Director of Finance Mark Ogden, Director of Workforce and Education Tim Gilpin and Cluster Director of Public Health Prof Paul Johnstone.

Mr Dalton said: “I am delighted to have been able to appoint this strong and able team. We were very fortunate in the north to have such an experienced field of candidates to select from.”
