Outline plans for three new detached homes outside Hepscott have been given the go-ahead.
Northumberland County Council’s planning committee approved the scheme, for brownfield land at Burnside, at its meeting at the end of February, having previously deferred a decision for a site visit.
Hepscott Parish Council had objected to the bid, due to the site being in the open countryside, outside the settlement boundary.
Chairman, Coun Philip Ashmore, told the meeting: “This application is about the credibility of the Morpeth Neighbourhood Plan. Three detached houses will act as a magnet to developers.”
However, Coun Andrew Tebbutt said: “Perhaps the Morpeth Neighbourhood Plan isn’t as precise as it needs to be in relation to isolated sites like this.
“I think this is a sensible solution given the situation and I would hate to see any development outside this curtilage.”
