Sir,—Kindly allow me a short space in your valuable paper to express, before my departure for the battlefield, my very best thanks to the inhabitants of Morpeth, and my friends in particular, for the generous treatment I received during my sojourn in Morpeth.
Let me also express my gratitude to my many customers for the kind patronage they accorded me during the stay of 12 years, and hope that they will accord to Mrs Amlett the same support.
Thanking one and all, I remain gratefully yours,
Hood Street, Morpeth,
August 3rd, 1914.
