VARIOUS organisations and political representatives in Ponteland are coming together to discuss a burning issue for residents.
A development sub-group has been formed by the Ponteland Community Partnership to co-ordinate community engagement related to any proposed development in the green belt, with planning applications for major schemes expected in the coming months and years.
The aim is to provide as full a response as possible from local residents, organisations and businesses.
And an open consultation meeting in the Memorial Hall on Tuesday is the start of this process.
This will enable the views of the community on what they have seen and heard so far to be collected and relayed back to potential developers.
The impact of the recently-introduced National Planning Policy Framework and Localism Bill will also be examined and there will be a presentation on the town council’s Local Plan.
Members of the group will include representatives from the community partnership, Ponteland Civic Society, the Darras Hall Estates Committee and the four Ponteland county councillors.
Ponteland Town Council has also been invited to join.
The event will have a drop-in session from 2pm to 5pm, and open discussions and a presentation from 7pm to 9pm.
