CHANGES are on the way for housing services in Northumberland.
Residents who wish to access Northumberland Homefinder, housing advice or homelessness services can currently do so through Castle Morpeth Housing.
But from April 1, they will be provided by Northumberland County Council directly.
The authority is required by law to have a waiting list for housing and must also provide a free housing advice and homelessness service.
The main offices will be based in Bedlington with satellite offices in the North and West areas.
But the services will still be accessible by phone and arrangements can be made for face to face appointments.
Executive Member for Housing Tom Brechany said: “We believe that efficiencies and improved outcomes for customers can be achieved by centralising the way that these services are delivered.
“We want to emphasise that this decision is by no means a reflection on the performance of our partners, who have delivered these key services on our behalf for a number of years, and we would like to thank them for the great job they did for us.”
