THE first two prizes have been claimed in the Herald’s new promotion to reward our loyal readers.

Last week we revealed that we had teamed up with Sanderson Arcade to offer two people the chance to win £10 of shopping at the centre each week. All you have to do is be pictured by us with a copy of your favourite weekly newspaper and if your photograph is published you’re a winner.

This week regular readers Helen Scoging and David Mash were the lucky ones.

Ms Scoging, who hails from Denmark, said: “It’s a lovely surprise. I’ve been buying the Herald since I came to Morpeth in 2007. It’s good because it has everything in about the local area and it is very strongly about Morpeth.

“I find out all the local news from it and it is right on our doorstep.”

Former borough councillor Mr Mash said: “I’ve lived in Morpeth for about 60 years and I’ve been buying the Morpeth Herald for about 40 years as the local paper.

“It has pretty much everything in it you could want. It deals with community news and a wide range of things that people are interested in — wildlife, countryside, letters, local politics. People can write in if they have concerns, or if they want to praise somebody.”

Look out for our staff taking photographs this week for your chance to win.
