A MORPETH teenager got on his bike to complete a major challenge in support of a young boy who is hoping to receive a life-changing operation.

James Templey did the 140-mile Coast to Coast Cycle ride from Whitehaven to Tynemouth over three days.

This was the physical section of his bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award that the 14-year-old is completing through the Explorer section of Morpeth Scouts. James also raised funds for Callum Brown, who lives in Seaton Sluice.

Callum is seven and has cerebral palsy, which means his legs are painful and stiff and he can’t walk on his own. His family are trying to raise £70,000 to fund an operation available in the USA.

James has so far collected £350 in sponsorship for Callum’s appeal. Those who would like to add to his total can call the Templey family on 01670 516654.
