A resident in Ponteland is celebrating this weekend after winning 10,000 in the Peoples Postcode Lotterys Saturday (28th January) Daily Draw. Grandma of two, Pauline Purvis, couldnt believe her eyes when local radio star Judie McCourt knocked on her door with the winning cheque.

IT may have come a month after Christmas, but a Ponteland woman’s big money gift was certainly worth the wait.

Pauline Purvis could not believe her eyes when regional radio presenter Judie McCourt knocked on her door with the winning £10,000 cheque.

Playing the People’s Postcode Lottery since it launched in the North East, the grandma-of-two’s luck came up when her postcode NE20 9AP was drawn.

After a few moments taking it all in, she said: “I am so excited to be a winner. It was such a lovely surprise and I really can’t describe it. It’s the most wonderful feeling.”

Mrs Purvis has no real plans yet as to how she will spend the winnings, but things could get even better for her, her two children and grandchildren and husband Rod because she has signed up for another ticket with the charity lottery, doubling her chances of winning fantastic cash prizes.

Her second ticket also doubles her donation to good causes across the region, including Daisy Chain and Children North East.

Through the People’s Postcode Trust, funded entirely by the lottery, players have also been able to support grassroots projects, with more than £80,000 going to regional projects. This includes Young Enterprise North East, which received £10,000.

Ms McCourt, a People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador, said: “We are delighted that Pauline has signed up for another ticket. By playing with another People’s Postcode Lottery ticket, she will be raising even more money for so many worthwhile local charities and projects.

“And let’s not forget how lucky our North East postcodes have been recently, as it was just a few weeks ago that £1million was won in Washington. With good things coming in threes, we’ve all got our fingers crossed for another North East win.”
