Ken reflects on the last 12 months

OUTGOING Morpeth Mayor Ken Brown has reflected on his time in post.

The Morpeth Town Council member, who has been Chairman of the authority for the last three years and became Mayor in 2009, has presented his annual report to councillors, celebrating the achievements of the past 12 months.

Coun Brown paid particular attention to the recent refurbishment of Storey Park and St James’s community centres, which have both had energy efficiency measures installed, the continued success of the town’s entry in Northumberland In Bloom and the council’s management takeover of Morpeth Town Hall.

He also outlined the prudent management of finances by the authority and looked back on his time as civic head.

He said: “It is with some pride that I look back over these three years and see what has been achieved and how the financial viability of the council has strengthened in that time.

“That’s not all down to me of course. It’s very much a team effort with staff, councillors and contractors all working well together to achieve some excellent results.

“2011/12 will have its challenges and I am very much looking forward to being part of the team that addresses them.”
