THIS woolly scene from the Christmas story has added to the festive celebrations in Mitford.
A new knitted Nativity set from a local woman has been in a number of homes across the village.
The item was made after Mitford Vicar Joanna Dobson suggested last year that it would be nice to add some Nativity art to the existing Christmas decorations.
“From making a simple comment, it has been lovely to see the level of detail that has gone into this wonderful piece,” she said.
“The lady put her heart and soul into making it and she kept letting me know when another section or knitted person had been completed.
“She is thrilled with the positive response the set has received from the people who’ve had it in their home.
“Children have enjoyed playing with it and the adults believe it has helped to create a Christmas atmosphere in their house.”
The Nativity set will be in The Plough Inn on Christmas Eve, where an informal crib service with carols and refreshments will take place from 4.30pm, before it is taken to the Church of St Mary Magdalene for the midnight communion service.
